Job description

At Stephen Wise Temple, communications is about more than promoting programs or sending emails. It’s how we welcome people into Jewish life, tell the story of our community, and help people find the experiences and relationships that make Stephen Wise feel like home. And we are looking for someone to help make that happen!

This position does not require the successful candidate to be Jewish. However, as a member of the Stephen Wise Temple team, the Communications Associate must demonstrate professionalism, respect for Jewish values and traditions, and a commitment to the mission and values of our community. The successful candidate should be comfortable communicating about Jewish life, holidays, traditions, and community experiences with thoughtfulness, accuracy, respect, and a willingness to learn.

If you’re highly organized, enjoy turning ideas into polished communications, and get satisfaction from keeping projects moving and details on track, we’d love to meet you.

About the Role

Working closely with the Chief Engagement Officer, the Communications Associate helps bring Stephen Wise to life across email, web, social media, and print.

You’ll build communications, coordinate projects and deadlines, maintain digital content, and make sure great ideas actually get out the door. You’ll also help us find smarter, more efficient ways to work—including thoughtful use of AI and emerging technology.

What You’ll Do
  • Build, test, schedule, and send email campaigns in ShulCloud.
  • Maintain accurate, engaging website content.
  • Coordinate and publish social media content.
  • Help execute major Temple initiatives across email, web, social, and print.
  • Manage communications timelines, project queues, approvals, and deadlines.
  • Write, edit, proofread, and quality-check communications before publication.
  • Manage audience lists, forms, tags, and CRM segmentation.
  • Coordinate with departments across the Temple to keep projects moving.
  • Improve workflows, templates, and systems that make collaboration easier.
  • Use AI and emerging tools to streamline work and strengthen communications.
We’re Probably a Great Fit If You…
  • Have 2–5 years of experience in communications, marketing, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Are an excellent writer, editor, and proofreader.
  • Are highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Have strong attention to detail, judgment, and follow-through.
  • Enjoy collaborating, solving problems, and thinking a step ahead.
  • Are comfortable learning new technology and digital platforms.
  • Have familiarity with Jewish communal life—or genuine enthusiasm for learning.

Experience in nonprofit, educational, publishing, or other mission-driven organizations is a plus. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

Tools You May Use

Google Workspace, ShulCloud or similar CRM/email platforms, Monday.com, website content management systems, Meta Business Suite, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite, and AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
