Job description

About Childhood Cancer Society

Childhood Cancer Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing financial and emotional support to families battling pediatric cancer. Our programs combine direct family assistance, wish grants, community engagement, strategic partnerships, and high-impact fundraising experiences to help families during some of their most challenging moments.

Adventure Ted, our superhero spokesbear, represents our philosophy to “See the adventure in all that you do.” We are seeking ambitious, creative, and highly motivated students to join our Communications Team and gain hands-on experience supporting major nonprofit events and campaigns.

Internship Focus

This internship will provide students with practical experience in communications, public relations, event marketing, partnership development, media outreach, and nonprofit storytelling.

Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to communications and outreach surrounding two major Childhood Cancer Society fundraising initiatives:

  • Adventure Ted Golf Event – Trump National Doral, Miami (February 15th, 2027): A major golf fundraising initiative at Trump National Doral in Miami, bringing Childhood Cancer Society’s Adventure Ted platform to South Florida through golf, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, donor engagement, and event-driven fundraising.

These events will serve as major case studies throughout the internship, giving students the opportunity to help build awareness, participation, partnerships, and visibility around real-world nonprofit campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Support communications and marketing strategy for the Mayor’s Benefit Dinner and Miami golf outing at Trump National Doral

  • Conduct targeted outreach to media outlets, journalists, content creators, influencers, community organizations, businesses, and other potential promotional partners

  • Draft and refine emails, media pitches, promotional copy, social media content, and other communications materials

  • Support outreach designed to attract golfers, donors, sponsors, auction contributors, and event attendees

  • Help coordinate communications with confirmed partners and participating organizations

  • Brainstorm creative campaigns and partnership concepts that can expand Childhood Cancer Society and Adventure Ted’s reach

  • Track outreach efforts, responses, follow-ups, and campaign progress

  • Participate in regular Communications Team meetings and collaborate directly with organizational leadership

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program

  • Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of assigned projects

  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through consistently on outreach and follow-up
