Job Summary:
Provides health care services applying pulsed x-ray energy to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs
radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for
the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment
in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various
patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or
procedure.
Job Responsibilities:
-Maintains a cohesive working relationship and spirit of cooperation with coworkers, other
employees and related individuals.
-Sets a positive example for staff through professional knowledge, appearance, personal conduct
and interactions.
- Maintains a professional working environment and follows all hospital policies and guideline
recommendations.
-Follow and implement hospital policies and guideline recommendations.
-Proactively plans and executes daily patient flow and staff schedule.
-Assist Coordinator with staff selection, training, and competency.
-Assists Radiologists and management with establishing protocols.
-Actively participates in training new employees on equipment functionality, exam protocols and
modifications.
-Provides supervision and instruction to imaging students on site for clinical rotation.
-Stays up to date on regulatory standards and changes.
-Verifies orders, verifies patient name/birth date and history.
- Performs and documents peripheral venipuncture when necessary for exams.
-Documents all incidents related to patient care on in electronic health record (example-incident
reports, medications given, contrast reactions, etc.)
-Performs and documents time out procedure for invasive procedures.
- Follow Department protocol for all exams.
-Works with transport and nursing units to coordinate patient exams.
- Continuously monitors the patient throughout the exam.
-Use Radiation protection for patient and self.
-Utilize ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for all exams.
- Assist Radiologist and authorized providers with exams as necessary.
Required Education:
-Associates degree from a JRCERT-accredited Radiology Program.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-BLS
Current American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Registry in Radiography RT(R)
-Current Commonwealth of State Specific Radiation License with the Kentucky Board of Medical
Imaging and Radiation Therapy
