Job description

Why Join CVFF as the Director of Feed Ingredient Merchandising?

This role offers the chance to build and scale a trading or merchandising function inside a growing, financially strong organization. You will operate with autonomy, shape strategy, and directly impact profitability. You will join a company known for its culture, long-term stability, and commitment to doing business the right way.

The Impact You’ll Make

You will own and grow a profitable merchandising business. Your work will directly influence net margins, risk exposure, and ingredient supply chain strategy across the organization. Success in this role will establish a new revenue stream and position the company for long-term growth in external markets.

What You’ll Do

  • Buy and sell animal feed ingredients to generate net margin and manage commodity risk
  • Build and expand a book of business with new and existing customers
  • Develop and execute trading strategies based on market conditions
  • Establish customer relationships and drive new business development
  • Collaborate with internal teams across finance, nutrition, logistics, and feed milling operations
  • Manage pricing, contracts, and credit processes for new and existing customers
  • Contribute to ERP and systems alignment for trading operations

What Makes This Role Exciting?

  • You are building something, not inheriting a mature structure
  • You have the freedom to operate like an owner
  • You will see direct results from your work in revenue and margin
  • You work in a company that is growing while others are consolidating

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in feed ingredient or grain commodity trading
  • Demonstrated personal success in generating margin through buying and selling
  • Ability to build and maintain a strong customer network
  • Hands-on operator who closes deals, not just manages people
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets and pricing dynamics

Skills & Mindset

  • Self-starter with strong accountability for results
  • Competitive and driven to win in the market
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building from scratch
  • Team-oriented and aligned with a values-driven culture
  • High urgency and willingness to go beyond standard hours when needed

Your Future

You will have the opportunity to grow this function into a larger team and expand your leadership scope as the business is built profitably. Success in this role can lead to broader commercial or supply chain leadership positions within the organization.

This Role Is Ideal for You If

  • You have a proven track record in commodity trading and want ownership of results
  • You enjoy building relationships and growing a customer base
  • You want to operate with autonomy and entrepreneurial freedom
  • You are motivated by performance, margin, and measurable outcome.
  • You are comfortable being hands-on and driving sales activity daily

This Role Is Not a Fit If

  • You prefer procurement or buying roles without the selling responsibility
  • Want a structured environment with clearly defined processes
  • Prefer managing teams over personally generating business
  • Are not comfortable with performance accountability tied to results
  • You cannot work with a structured team environment and collaborate regularly
  • Expect a traditional schedule with limited flexibility in workload
