Job Title Commodity Buyer II
Commodity Buyer focuses on commercial matters, efficiency, and cost reduction negotiations while supporting our supply chain within WH Division and other Divisions as needed. Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, driven, and able to take the lead in learning processes and systems, meeting with suppliers, and proactively seeking cost reductions. Buyer will support all functions of the Wire Harness Purchasing Department as determined by management
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Negotiate yearly cost reduction with assigned vendors. Review of VA/VE cost savings ideas and coordinate with DE, QA, and other related departments as needed.
  • Request for quotation (RFQ) to raw material suppliers. Manage price entry files for assigned parts. Analyze price comparisons, logistics routes, MOQ requirements, and related cost drivers.
  • Oversee daily NCL (New Component List) traceability reviews to identify RFQ requirements for part-number registration, ensure timely entry of new pricing into IPS and/or BPCS with full data accuracy, and support management in ensuring commodity buyers consistently review the NCL and maintain the 10-day part registration.
  • Review monthly supplier scorecards and coordinate QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) performance discussions with suppliers and relevant internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and corrective action.
  • Maintain and track invoice control to ensure on time payment to vendors.
  • Manage supplier Lead Times and capacity to ensure uninterrupted material availability and support production.
  • Understand OEM/Internal Customer requirements and source business based on supplier base resources.
  • Review supply base financial information (D&B) on monthly basis. Maintain and track invoice control to ensure on time payment to vendors.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Accounting, and Program Management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business related field and or 3/5 years of strong Purchasing/Planning background.
  • Knowledge Microsoft Office, (Strong Excel)
  • Able to work in a team first environment.
  • Regular travel required
