Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Nursing

Job Summary:

The Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Nursing independently provides high-level, confidential administrative and operational support to senior academic leadership within Frontier Nursing University. This role serves as a key liaison among the Dean of Nursing and Senior Academic Leadership.

The position is responsible for managing complex communications, coordinating schedules and projects, and supporting initiatives, including grants and special projects. Success in this role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently while maintaining discretion and professionalism. This position supports and promote the mission, policies, and “Culture of Caring” at Frontier Nursing University (FNU).

Supervisor Responsibility:

This position does not have any supervisor responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Dean of Nursing and designated 

academic leaders, including calendar management, communication coordination, and 

support for projects and grant-related initiatives.

• Supports simulation as needed. 

• Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual meetings, retreats, and other events.

• Arrange travel and accommodations; manage itineraries and associated correspondence.

• Organize, maintain, and manage files and documentation; perform photocopying, faxing, and 

document collation.

• Answer phone inquiries, route calls appropriately, and provide general University information.

• Respond promptly and professionally to information requests from students, staff, faculty, and 

external contacts.

• Assist faculty, staff, and external constituents as directed.

• Serve as a backup for the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Nursing when needed.

• Provide service to the University through activities such as involvement in FNU shared 

governance (e.g. committees, workgroups), FNU-sponsored activities (e.g. charity drives, 

community-outreach activities), and/or professional scholarship or service to the profession 

(e.g. conference presentations, professional organization committee work).

• Demonstrate alignment with FNU’s “Culture of Caring” in all interactions and responsibilities.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Proficiency with multiple technical applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, 

  PowerPoint), database management, presentation tools, email, and internet navigation.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to respond clearly and efficiently to internal and 

  external inquiries.

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks proactively.

• Ability to work independently with creativity and initiative.

• Maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

• Capable of contributing positively in a team-oriented environment.

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant work 

experience. 

Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Administrative Assistant or similar administrative 

support role.

Standing/sitting for long periods of time

Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Nursing
