What is commission turf sales?

Commission Turf Sales refers to the role of selling turf products—such as grass seed, sod, or artificial turf—for landscaping, sports fields, or residential use, where the salesperson earns a commission based on the sales they generate. Professionals in this field typically work for turf suppliers or landscaping companies and are responsible for finding clients, understanding their turf needs, and recommending suitable products. The commission-based structure means their earnings are directly tied to their sales performance, incentivizing strong customer service and sales skills.

Familiarity with CRM software, point-of-sale systems, and possibly certifications in horticulture or agronomy are highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help you connect with clients and close deals. These skills and qualifications are crucial for meeting sales targets, building a loyal customer base, and driving business growth in a competitive market.

Success in this role typically requires strong networking skills, consistent follow-up with leads, and an in-depth understanding of turf products and customer needs. Many professionals find it helpful to develop long-term relationships with landscapers, sports facility managers, and golf course superintendents, as well as participating in industry events to expand their network and knowledge.
