Job Description: 6–12 Instructional (Academic) Coach

Quitman County PreK–12 School Georgetown, Georgia

Position Overview:

The Quitman County PreK–12 School is currently seeking applicants for a 6–12 Instructional (Academic) Coach vacancy. The Instructional Coach will serve as a key leader in strengthening teaching and learning across grades 6–12 by supporting teachers in the implementation of high-quality, standards-based instruction, data-driven practices, and differentiated learning strategies.

This role is non-evaluative and focused on building teacher capacity to improve student achievement outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing, job-embedded coaching to teachers in grades 6–12
  • Model effective instructional strategies aligned to district initiatives (e.g., differentiation, small group instruction, gradual release of responsibility)
  • Support teachers in lesson planning aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence, Georgia's K-12 Standards in Math and ELA
  • Facilitate the implementation of research-based instructional practices across all content areas
  • Guide teachers through the data-driven instruction cycle
  • Assist teachers in analyzing multiple data sources
  • Design and deliver professional learning aligned to district and school improvement goals
  • Ensure alignment of instruction with district-adopted resources
  • Assist in developing pacing guides, instructional frameworks, and common assessments

Qualifications

  • Must hold valid certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC)
  • Strong background in curriculum and instruction, particularly at the middle and high school levels
  • Demonstrated experience using student data to inform instruction
  • Applicants with educational technology experience are preferred
  • Coaching endorsement or prior instructional coaching experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching experience (secondary level preferred)
