This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer - Solutions Engineering based in Netherlands.

Join a globally distributed engineering team focused on transforming how modern infrastructure is built, operated, and automated.
You will develop open source software that enables efficient DevOps workflows across bare-metal systems, private clouds, Kubernetes, and high-performance computing environments.
The role combines hands-on Python and Go development with deep exposure to the Linux stack, from networking and storage to virtualization and containers.
You will help design reliable automation, monitoring, and alerting capabilities that simplify complex infrastructure operations.
Your work will directly influence open source products used by customers and communities around the world.
You will collaborate with engineers across multiple regions, contribute to upstream projects, and help establish strong engineering and development practices.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate software engineer who wants to grow technically while solving challenging distributed systems and cloud infrastructure problems.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and deliver high-quality open source software operations code primarily using Python and Golang.
  • Work across the Linux technology stack, including the kernel, networking, storage, virtualization, containers, and applications.
  • Build and improve open source infrastructure for monitoring, alerting, automation, and reliable operations.
  • Help rethink and modernize open source operations to address the evolving needs of customers and the broader open source community.
  • Apply strong software engineering principles across architecture, implementation, testing, documentation, performance, and maintainability.
  • Follow agile software development practices and contribute to efficient, high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to solve complex infrastructure and software operations challenges.
  • Coach and support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and practical engineering insights.
  • Contribute to a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with shared technical and organizational values.
  • Participate in internal and external events, with global travel of up to 10% of the time.

Requirements:

  • Strong professional experience as a software engineer, with particular expertise in Python development.
  • Passion for building reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software and a strong understanding of the importance of dependable operations in an agile environment.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux and networking, with an interest in working across the broader Linux stack.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
  • Strong engineering judgment, with demonstrated attention to software quality, correctness, testing, documentation, and performance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to delivering software on time and to a high standard.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a globally distributed team.
  • Curiosity and a lifelong-learning mindset, with enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and solving complex technical challenges.
  • Golang programming experience is a valuable advantage.
  • A university degree in Computer Science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Benefits:

  • Globally distributed work environment with twice-yearly in-person team sprints.
  • Compensation shaped by geographical location, experience, and performance.
  • Annual compensation reviews, with more frequent reviews where appropriate for graduates and associates.
  • Performance-driven annual bonus or commission.
  • USD 2,000 annual personal learning and development budget.
  • Recognition rewards for outstanding contributions.
  • Annual holiday leave.
  • Maternity and paternity leave.
  • Team Member Assistance Program and Wellness Platform.
  • Opportunities to travel to new locations and meet colleagues around the world.
