Job description

EV Charging Program Lead

(Electric Generation System Program Specialist I state classification)

Fuels and Transportation Division (FTD)

Salary: $10,127.00 - $12,669.00 per month plus state pension plan


California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring an EV Charging Program Lead in the Fuels and Transportation Division (FTD). Our EV Charging Program Lead will develop grant funding opportunities, manage agreements, and engage in other funding and non-funding activities related to the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program and other federal programs that support vehicle-grid integration and vehicle to grid advancement.


This CEC opportunity is an Electric Generation System Program Specialist I (EGSPS I) state classification and will serve as the technical coordinator and primary subject matter expert for the Fuels and Transportation Division’s contribution to analysis of the implementation of federal funding programs for electric vehicle charging and other zero-emission vehicle refueling infrastructure.


The Fuels and Transportation Division ensures that adequate and reliable transportation energy and infrastructure is provided to the state’s transportation sector while balancing economic, public health, safety, and environmental impacts.


Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Ability to think critically and develop creative solutions to problems in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) charging and refueling infrastructure deployment.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with or in transportation related sectors, including but not limited to ZEV infrastructure deployment and planning.
  3. Demonstrated experience in working on transportation projects in the federal government or on transportation projects using federal funding.
  4. Demonstrated ability in designing grant funding solicitations and in performing contract management.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including effective writing and editing for both technical and non-technical audiences, as well as the ability to communicate observations, results, and recommendations verbally and in writing to management and outside stakeholders.
  6. Ability to complete complex technical assignments independently and within a team setting.
  7. Ability to prepare status reports on project development, implementation, and funding expenditures.
  8. Demonstrated experience in data collection and analysis.
  9. Project planning experience and an ability to set and meet deadlines while delivering high quality work products.
