Philly’s Best Steak Company Inc. is a leading Philadelphia area meat processing facility specializing in the manufacturing of Philly style steak products. We pride ourselves as being family owned, providing our employees with a safe, friendly, and collaborative work environment.


The Production Area Supervisor oversees and manages the sub-departments within our production environment (Areas include Slicing, Marination, and In/Outbound movements). This leader plans, organizes, and directs the activity on the production floor to meet Production, Safety, Quality, Human Resources and Cost objectives. The Production Supervisor directs, motivates, and engages line personnel to maximize daily production to the fullest capability of the line.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Complete Daily Production Plan

o Schedule and assign personnel to work areas.

o Establish priorities.

o Monitor and accomplish work progress for desired result.

o Resolve issues.

o Report results and downtime reasons on shift production summaries.

· Manage line efficiencies, key performance indicators, and downtime.

· Verify readiness of the production lines start-up and supervise changeovers (labels, orders, etc.).

· Monitor production and slicing process, make periodic checks, and adjust equipment or work practices according to standard operating procedures.

· Ensure that product is processed in compliance with company policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal regulations, including but not limited to company QA policies and USDA regulations.

· Ensure that all processes in the assigned work area start up in a timely manner.

· Coordinates raw material shipments between our facilities.

· Ensure equipment in the area assigned is in working order and that working conditions are always safe.

- Ensure that the proper product is being produced according to schedule and consistently monitor the process to ensure that quality and yield standards are met.

· Ensure effective employee relations. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution and provide solid leadership & strong effective communication among direct team members and across department personnel.

· Perform safety accident investigations, root cause analysis, and propose solutions.

  • Track absenteeism, timekeeping, labor hours and verify payroll accuracy.
  • Conduct inspections and constantly monitor all work areas for cleanliness and sanitation ensuring that product contamination is kept to a minimum.
  • Act as a liaison between various departments and provides quick and accurate solutions to problems.
  • Educate and direct employees on the use of equipment, all critical control points, and resources.
  • Support QA and ensure the processing facility meets or exceeds USDA food processing standards.
  • Collaborate with Production Manager on production goal setting.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree from 4-year college/university preferred.

· 4+ years of Production Supervisor experience in food manufacturing preferred.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, food manufacturing environment with tight deadlines to be met daily.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a big plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.

· Must be able to lift up to 40 lb. periodically and walk for extended periods of time.

· Must be able to work in a wet and cold environment between -5F and 50F.

  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and lead Production staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends based on business needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to adapt, troubleshoot, research solutions, and make recommendations to improve work area.
  • Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to work under, comply with, and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Knowledge of meat processing industry, yields, and production processes.
  • General knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety regulations.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
