Role Description The Design Sales Associate is a full-time, on-site role located in Short Hills, NJ. This role focuses on providing personalized design and product recommendations, supporting customers with room layout ideas, furniture selection, and home décor coordination. The Design Sales Associate actively engages customers on the sales floor, builds relationships, meets or exceeds sales goals, and supports store merchandising, product presentation, and showroom maintenance. Daily tasks include conducting design consultations, creating concept boards or basic floor plans, following up with clients on orders and deliveries, and coordinating with store leadership to support promotional events and new product launches. The role also requires accurate processing of sales transactions and adherence to company policies and customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in interior or spatial design, including color coordination, furniture placement, and basic space planning.
  • Strong customer service and sales abilities, including active listening, consultative selling, and relationship-building with clients.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in a team and interact professionally with diverse customers.
  • Attention to detail in visual merchandising, product presentation, and maintaining a clean, organized showroom environment.
  • Comfort with point-of-sale systems, order entry, and basic computer applications to support client communication and sales tracking.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and move merchandise as needed throughout a shift, following safety guidelines.
  • Previous retail, design, or home furnishings experience is preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in interior design or a related field is a plus.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on store needs.
