Job Description:
The HVAC Estimator II is responsible for developing comprehensive cost estimates for HVAC projects, analyzing blueprints, and ensuring accurate labor and material pricing. This role requires experience in commercial and industrial HVAC estimating, as well as collaboration with project managers and vendors to produce competitive bids.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability, and physical demands required.
  • Perform detailed take-offs and labor cost analysis for HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and controls.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive material and labor pricing.
  • Utilize HVAC estimating software to create detailed project proposals.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and bid documents to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Support the preparation of bid proposals and cost summaries.
  • Attend pre-bid site visits to understand project conditions.
  • Conduct value engineering reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers and sales teams on proposal development.
  • Assist in bid presentations and contract negotiations as needed.
  • Work with the Salesperson to secure engineer approval to quote if our products are not listed.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and meet those needs with a successful product sale.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Analytical Skills- Ability to assess market trends, labor rates, and risk factors in estimates.

Experience and Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in HVAC estimating, preferably in commercial and industrial projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ductwork design, piping, load calculations, and controls estimating.
  • Software Proficiency: Microsoft Excel, Quick Bid, FastPIPE, AutoCAD, PlanSwift, BlueBeam and estimating software. Should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
