POSITION DUTIES

The investigator/Auditor\r\nconducts audits of public and private correctional organizations and\r\ninvestigates the background of, and complaints regarding private home detention\r\nprograms. Travel is required to audit state and local facilities and private\r\nhome detention monitoring agencies in the state of Maryland.\r\n\r\n\r\n Audits and investigates private\r\n home detention businesses to determine eligibility for licensing and compliance\r\n with state laws and regulations by conducting on site visits, background\r\n reviews and review of criminal history record checks.\r\n Audits adult correctional\r\n facilities and conducts monitoring visits to determine levels of compliance\r\n with standards addressing life, health, safety and constitutional issues by\r\n traveling to correctional institutions throughout the State and reviewing\r\n facility operations and documentation.\r\n Prepares initial audit reports\r\n and follow up monitoring visit reports. Reviews and corresponds with Private\r\n Home Monitoring Agencies to determine accuracy of initial licensing and license\r\n renewals.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAdditional\r\nDetails\r\n\r\n\r\n The\r\n Commission audits 50+ facilities and 5 private home detention monitoring\r\n agencies in the State of Maryland.\r\n The\r\n facilities are scheduled on a 3 year cycle and the private home detention\r\n monitoring agencies are scheduled on an initial 6 month to 2 year cycle.\r\n The\r\n audit cycles require overnight travel 1-3 times per month and audits may be 2-5\r\n days in length.\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited\r\nhigh school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: One year of administrative staff or\r\nprofessional work.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute\r\n30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university\r\nfor the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S.\r\nArmed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving\r\nstaff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis\r\nin applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or\r\nregulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with\r\nrecommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the\r\nrequired experience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n 6 months of experience\r\n conducting audits to determine levels of compliance for state or local\r\n correctional facilities, in regards to state laws, regulations, and/or\r\n standards as an auditor and/or investigator.\r\n 6 months of experience\r\n using Microsoft Suite with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Google Workplace\r\n with Gmail, Drive, Calendar and Meet.\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
