Job Overview
Our growing law firm is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. In this vital role, you will support attorneys specializing in workers' compensation law by managing case files, conducting legal research, and preparing documentation. Your proactive approach will help ensure smooth case progression, accurate record-keeping, and effective communication with clients and stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of workers' compensation cases, including case intake, document review, and file management.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law using LexisNexis, and other legal research tools.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents such as applications, motions, settlement agreements, and correspondence.
  • Manage electronic files using legal case management systems to ensure organized and accessible records.
  • Interview clients and witnesses to gather pertinent information for case development while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with medical providers, insurance carriers, and other parties involved in workers' compensation claims.
  • Support Plaintiff litigation processes by reviewing documents, preparing trial exhibits, and assisting with deposition preparations.
  • Handle administrative tasks including data entry, filing, scheduling appointments, and maintaining calendar deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with clients via phone or email to provide updates and gather additional information as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with procedural law requirements and maintain high standards of accuracy in all legal support activities.


Experience

  • Prior paralegal or legal support experience in workers' compensation law or personal injury law is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedural law related to workers’ compensation claims.
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis.
  • Experience with case management software (no paper files)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and internal collaboration.
  • Familiarity with legal drafting, proofreading, document review, and litigation support procedures.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while demonstrating professionalism in a fast-paced environment.


Senior Paralegal: Salary averages between $59,600 to 97,00 annually based on the criteria above and have the following experience to be considered:

  • Paralegals with 5+ years handling litigation files and Workers' Compensation Commission hearings.
  • Case Management: Must have experience working with case management systems versus paper environment.
  • Case Load & Responsibilities: Managing medical chronologies, and settlement negotiations independently increases earning potential.
