What you will do:
The Financial Analyst - Commissions & FP&A plays a critical role in administering sales compensation programs while supporting broader financial planning and analysis activities. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate commission calculations, maintaining strong financial controls, providing business performance insights, and supporting strategic decision-making through forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
The role exercises independent judgment in analyzing financial data, evaluating business performance, identifying trends and risks, and developing recommendations to support leadership decisions. The position partners closely with Sales, FP&A, Accounting, HR, and Operations to promote financial discipline, transparency, and alignment with organizational objectives.
Sales Commissions & Compensation Administration - Primary Focus
  • Own and manage the end-to-end commission administration process, including data validation, commission calculations, review, approval support, and payout file preparation.
  • Ensure commission payments are accurate, timely, compliant, and audit ready.
  • Interpret and operationalize commission and incentive compensation plans, including quotas, tiers, accelerators, bonuses, and special incentive programs.
  • Serve as a primary contact for commission-related inquiries and dispute resolution.
  • Analyze sales compensation performance and evaluate compensation expense against business results.
  • Develop models and scenario analyses to support compensation plan evaluation and design.
  • Maintain compliance with company compensation programs, wage and hour requirements, internal policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Support annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Analyze revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, commission expense, and profitability trends.
  • Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior-period results and communicate key performance drivers.
  • Build and maintain financial models that support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Provide business leaders with actionable financial insights, recommendations, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support business initiatives and resource planning.

Monthly Business Reviews & Financial Reporting
  • Prepare recurring financial reporting packages for leadership review.
  • Support Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) by providing meaningful analysis and commentary on business performance.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track and analyze key business metrics, including revenue growth, margin performance, cost of sales, sales attainment versus commission payouts, forecast accuracy, and business unit performance indicators.

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner with Sales Leadership on compensation performance, commission analytics, and sales productivity.
  • Partner with the FP&A team on forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and business performance analysis.
  • Partner with Accounting on commission accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with Human Resources on compensation governance, policy alignment, and program administration.
  • Partner with Operations Leadership on business planning and operational performance analysis.
  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations that support sound business decisions and continuous improvement.

Process Improvement & Internal Controls
  • Develop, document, and maintain effective internal controls surrounding commission administration and reporting.
  • Lead automation initiatives to improve financial and commission-related processes.
  • Enhance reporting capabilities using advanced Excel, BI tools, and financial systems.
  • Ensure data integrity across ERP, CRM, commission management, and reporting platforms.
  • Support internal and external audit requests as needed.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Financial Analysis, FP&A, Sales Compensation, Corporate Finance, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting both commission administration and financial planning processes preferred.
  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and business reporting strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, large data analysis, advanced formulas, and data validation techniques.
  • Experience with CRM systems, Salesforce preferred, commission administration systems, and ERP platforms.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting systems such as Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, Oracle, SAP, or similar tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or other analytics tools is desirable.
  • Strong reconciliation, reporting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated accountability and ownership of critical processes.
  • Effective communication and business partnership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet established deadlines in a dynamic business environment.
  • Continuous improvement and process optimization mindset.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Ability to review and analyze detailed financial and commission-related information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders in person, via telephone, and through written communication.
  • Ability to occasionally travel for meetings, training, or business needs, if required.

Location: San Leandro, CA
Work hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Salary Range:
  • This is an exempt position that pays $97,000 - $120,000 annually.This salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, within California. The actual range of the role may differ based on the location of the role.
