PREFERENCES
The ideal candidate brings around 10 years of substation construction and commissioning experience , including strong exposure to relay work, protection & controls, and substation equipment . A background as a Substation Apprentice or Journeymen or similar field¿based role is highly valuable.
They should be comfortable working across engineering, project management, and field operations , with a proven ability to coordinate stakeholders and support safe, efficient project execution. Prior supervisory or management experience is preferred to ensure effective team leadership.
Technical familiarity with NESC, NEC, NETA standards , DOBLE testing, and other construction best practices is beneficial, though not required. No formal certifications are necessary; practical field expertise is the priority.

SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, manages a team that provides new service delivery, maintenance, and system reliability. Assists the Team in achieving its goals and objectives including superior customer service, system integrity, cost effectiveness, and highly productive personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Holds employees accountable to completing all projects in a timely and professional manner, while promoting a safe working environment
  • Works with other Team Managers to ensure all resources are allocated to best meet customer and Company needs
  • Ensures DOT, OSHA and Governmental compliance
  • Provides technical expertise for electric design for new construction, system reliability, and maintenance
  • Reviews and approves electric design for new construction, system reliability, and maintenance
  • Manages workloads and deploys work resources where needed
  • Administers contracts for wide array of projects, professional services, outside services, materials, and equipment
  • Provides planning, direction, interdepartmental coordination, and development of new administrative procedures and policies necessary for the achievement of team goals
  • Prepares, submits, and maintains appropriate documents in an accurate and timely manner Assists and may represent the company in litigation or grievance matters
  • Develops and monitors the team budget
  • Responsible for all team members, including union/non-union personnel, their activities, and achievements
  • Ensures the proper execution of training, performance appraisals, counseling, discipline, and EEO compliance
  • Resolves conflicts within the team as well as external customers, departments, consultants, and contractors

COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance of electric distribution systems
  • Knowledge of organizational and negotiating skills to prioritize and assign work
  • Experience in dealing with emergency situations with minimal or no direction from director
  • Knowledge of environmental issues, concerns, and overall policies and procedures
  • Ability to counsel and provide suggested solutions for problems encountered
  • Extensive knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and union contracts
  • Knowledge of the Company budget process, preparation, and interrelationship with other department and budgets

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with five to seven years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a current, legally valid driver's license and meet the company's driving record requirements.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Working knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software
Knowledge and ability to use software applications and current computer system tools used by team
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
