Job description:

The superintendent is responsible for the field work on construction projects, while ensuring that company policies and procedures are met for workers compensation and OSHA safety, reading plans A to Z, scheduling, managing job site, and excellent customer, vendor, and employee communication skills. Job responsibilities include construction for commercial and residential properties, including renovations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read plans and implement construction project in accordance with said plans A to Z
  • Manage the job site that includes execution and performance of productivity, safety, quality, and adherence to schedule for each assignment.
  • Organize and schedule the work force; assign, oversee and follow up on performance of work.
  • Work with the customers to develop and maintain the Project Schedule.
  • Assist customers with the development of Project Plan Changes when necessary.
  • Develop and establish checklists for inspections, equipment maintenance, emergency response, etc.
  • Instruct and train employees, subcontractors, and others in safe and efficient methods of construction.
  • Coordinate and maintain equipment required for the project.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical behavior, encourages ethical behavior in others, supports ethical decisions and

actively seeks appropriate resolution to potential ethical conflicts.

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA and Workers Compensation Guidelines.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises construction crews on construction sites.
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Responsibilities include planning, interviewing, hiring, training; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have Retail Project New Construction and Remodel Experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform satisfactorily the essential duties and responsibilities noted above.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Field experience should include a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a superintendent role. Must have hands on field experience as well as supervisory experience in a concrete construction discipline.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
Fall Protection Competent Person, preferred

HOURS

Shifts vary from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm and 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employees must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, etc.). The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs and ladders to work on structures. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The employee may be required to stand for extended periods of time.
