Job description

Automation Control Technician Summary:
  • The Automation Control Technician will identify opportunities where automated systems will reduce labor, improve quality, and improve ergonomics and/or safety.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Works with internal and external parties to organize the various components needed to initiate and launch projects and automation initiatives.
  • Duties include coordinating schedules and activities, placing orders for equipment and services, and tracking progress and results.
  • Interfaces with the Management Team to anticipate manufacturing requirements and methods. Researches, evaluates, and recommends production methods, resources, and equipment for new processes.
  • Applies strong proven practical experience with PLCs, servomotors, robotics and sensors to improve automated production processes and reduce human interaction. Performs hands on electrical, mechanical and automation troubleshooting, making adjustments to processes and/or machinery. Optimizes equipment/manufacturing processes to provide sustainable gains in product quality, process yield and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting Electrical, PLC and other industrial automation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Design, install, Program and commission small size Automation control systems.
Additional Duties:
  • Documents time and materials by project for R&D history.
  • Makes recommendations regarding automation equipment and fixtures to support manufacturing.
  • Applies various preventive action tools such as error-proofing/poka-yoke, and analyzes their effectiveness as a means to improve product quality and manufacturability.
  • Train and support Maintenance team members on an ongoing basis on the understanding of Automation and troubleshooting.
  • Monitors and reacts in a timely manner to routine demand and maintenance requirements.
