Job description

Business Development Executive – Automation & Manufacturing Solutions

Help Shape the Future of Framing Technology

At Framing Technology, we've built our reputation by helping manufacturers, OEMs, machine builders, and systems integrators solve engineering and automation challenges with custom aluminum framing solutions. As our company continues to grow, we're investing in a dedicated outside sales program and looking for an ambitious Business Development Executive to help build that function. You’ll work alongside company leadership to shape our outside sales strategy, develop new customer relationships, and play a key role in the next phase of our company's growth. You'll have the support of experienced engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams as you take ownership of your territory and help build our outside sales program.

This isn't an account management position with an established customer base. It's a true hunter role built around identifying new opportunities, opening doors, and earning business through persistence, curiosity, and relationship building. You'll have the opportunity to build your own territory, establish lasting customer relationships, and help define how Framing Technology grows for years to come. We're looking for someone who brings energy, confidence, and genuine enthusiasm for meeting new people, someone who is comfortable starting conversations, asks thoughtful questions, and enjoys building relationships that turn into long-term partnerships. If you're motivated by creating your own success and enjoy the challenge of winning new business, we'd love to talk with you.

What You'll Do

You'll spend your time:

  • Prospecting new customers through phone calls, email, LinkedIn, networking, referrals, trade shows, and in-person visits.
  • Building relationships with manufacturers, OEMs, machine builders, systems integrators, and automation companies.
  • Identifying customer challenges and recommending custom aluminum framing and manufacturing solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Scheduling customer meetings, facility visits, and discovery conversations.
  • Working closely with inside sales and engineering to develop winning solutions for customers.
  • Following up consistently on quotes, opportunities, and customer communications.
  • Maintaining accurate opportunity and customer information within Odoo CRM.
  • Monitoring industry trends and identifying new markets, applications, and growth opportunities.
  • Achieving sales goals through disciplined prospecting, relationship building, and consistent execution.

What You'll Need to Succeed

We're more interested in finding the right person than checking every box, but successful candidates will typically have:

  • A naturally outgoing personality with the confidence to introduce yourself, start conversations, and build relationships with new people.
  • High energy, a positive attitude, and self-motivation to consistently create new opportunities.
  • A competitive mindset with discipline and persistence to prospect, follow up, and earn new business.
  • Excellent communication, listening, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business through prospecting and relationship development.
  • 3–5+ years of outside sales, business development, or industrial sales experience.
  • Experience selling into manufacturing, industrial automation, robotics, machine builders, OEMs, systems integrators, or related industries is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to understand and communicate technical products and engineered solutions.
  • Experience using CRM software to manage sales activity.
  • Willingness to travel throughout an assigned territory.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required.

Compensation

We're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career and be rewarded for their performance.

Compensation includes:

  • Base salary of $45,000–$50,000 annually, starting at $6,000 per month for 3 months (ramp-up period) while training and transitioning to base salary.
  • Uncapped commission
  • Performance-based earnings with the opportunity to earn well into six figures
  • Ongoing support from experienced engineering, operations, and leadership teams
  • Benefits

We believe great employees deserve great benefits

  • Company-paid high-deductible medical insurance, with hybrid and copay plan options available at an additional cost.
  • Company-paid dental insurance.
  • Low-cost vision insurance.
  • 4% company 401(k) match.
  • Company-paid short-term disability (in addition to New York State disability) and life insurance. Additional life insurance is available at a low cost.
  • 40 hours of sick time available upon hire (prorated based on start date).
  • 80 hours of vacation accrued annually and available after the 90-day introductory period.

If you’re looking for a role where your ideas matter, your effort is recognized, and your success directly contributes to the future of a growing manufacturing company, we’d love to hear from you!
