The Difference You Make:
The CIB - Pre & Post Trade Operations, Agency Desk Associate supports the middle office management of syndicated and bilateral loan facilities where Santander acts as Administrative Agent and/or Collateral Agent. The role is focused on coordinating, monitoring, and controlling Santander's agency responsibilities across the loan lifecycle, ensuring deal terms are properly interpreted and communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supports the middle office oversight of Santander-agented transactions, including new deals, amendments, waivers, extensions, refinancings, repayments, and maturities.
  • Reviews and interprets credit agreements, amendments, fee letters, notices, collateral documents, and guarantee documents to identify key agency obligations, economics, deadlines, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinates with Front Office, Legal, Credit Risk, Loan Operations, Treasury, Cash Operations, borrowers, lenders, external counsel, and other stakeholders to support accurate and timely execution.
  • Monitors key deal events, including funding dates, interest periods, rate resets, fee dates, reporting requirements, consent deadlines, collateral requirements, and maturities.
  • Supports the preparation, review, and validation of agency deliverables, including borrower/lender notices, funding requirements, fee calculations, lender allocations, transaction checklists, and amendment coordination.
  • Investigates and helps resolve discrepancies or exceptions related to cash, positions, fees, lender allocations, documentation, or collateral requirements.
  • Partners with Operations teams to validate that LoanIQ or other loan servicing systems accurately reflect deal terms, lender allocations, agency roles, fees, and collateral requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate evidence, approvals, checklists, reconciliations, correspondence, and supporting documentation for audit, control, and internal review purposes.
  • Escalates risks, documentation gaps, timing issues, control exceptions, and operational dependencies to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Contributes to process improvements, control enhancements, procedure updates, and standardization of Agency Desk practices.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced team members on agency processes, documentation review, issue resolution, and escalation protocols.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience: Business or equivalent degree. - Required.
  • 5+ Years Experience with commercial loan operations. - Required.
  • Excellent communication, good organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Solid knowledge/skills of Microsoft Office Suite and various bank systems.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and be a team player.
  • Working knowledge in Commercial Banking.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of the Syndicated and Commercial Loan products and markets.
  • Ability to review and interpret legal documentation supporting these products.
  • In depth knowledge of market initiatives to streamline and automate Middle Office support functions.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for Syndicated and Commercial loans .
  • Knowledge of Banking Regulations and Standard Practices.
  • Expertise in continuously reviewing workflow and the ability to functionalize ideas for organizational change. Also, ensure all departmental structural and procedural changes are implemented where necessary.
  • Ability to clearly convey complex concepts and issues in a concise way.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
