Banking – Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Banking – Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in Charlotte, North Carolina; New York, New York; or Washington, D.C.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 2+ years of commercial real estate finance experience to join a nationally recognized Real Estate Finance practice. The team represents commercial and investment banks, insurance companies, debt funds, and other institutional lenders in sophisticated real estate financing transactions, while also advising owners, developers, and investors on a broad range of commercial real estate matters.

Responsibilities
  • Represent institutional lenders in commercial real estate financing transactions.

  • Advise clients on the origination of loans secured by commercial real estate assets.

  • Conduct title, survey, lease, and other commercial real estate due diligence.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate loan documents and related financing agreements.

  • Assist with mezzanine financings, commercial mortgage loan securitizations, and syndicated financing transactions, where applicable.

  • Support commercial real estate acquisitions, developments, leasing, and owner/operator matters.

  • Manage transaction closings and coordinate with borrowers, lenders, title companies, and other parties.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams on sophisticated real estate finance transactions.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in a U.S. state bar.

  • 2+ years of commercial real estate finance experience.

  • Experience representing commercial banks, investment banks, insurance companies, debt funds, or other institutional lenders.

  • Experience conducting title, survey, lease, and commercial property due diligence.

  • Experience with the origination of commercial mortgage loans.

  • Exposure to mezzanine loans, commercial mortgage loan securitizations, or syndicated financings is a plus.

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Strong academic credentials and the ability to manage multiple sophisticated transactions in a collaborative environment.

Compensation & Benefits
