Job description

Who We Are

At Freshpet, our goal is to change the way people nourish their pets forever. We strive to strengthen the bond between people and our pets so that we both live longer, healthier, and happier lives while being kind to the planet. We believe that if we can create fresh, real foods that pets love and help them live healthier lives, that their pet parents will also enjoy the many benefits of a rich life shared with a pet. IT’S AMAZING WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU START COMPLETELY FRESH!

What You Will Do

Freshpet is building a best-in-class Commercial Finance function to power our next phase of growth. The Senior Director of Commercial Finance plays a key role in shaping the financial strategy behind how we make decisions across portfolio strategy, pricing, promotions, and commercial investments. Your work will ensure we are investing behind the right opportunities that will fuel our commercial ambition with clarity and confidence.

As Senior Director of Commercial Finance, you will serve as a data-driven business partner to Freshpet’s Sales, Marketing, Innovation, and Omni-channel teams. You will work alongside the business to shape decisions by bringing financial clarity, external perspective, and actionable insights that enable smarter, faster choices.

This is a highly collaborative, high-impact role with the opportunity to embed finance more deeply into how Freshpet operates, helping teams align on priorities, unlock growth, and scale with discipline. In this high-visibility role you will have the opportunity to influence decision-making at senior levels by bringing insights, tools, and clarity to the process.

How You Will Make an Impact Co-Create Profitable Growth Strategies
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, and Omni-channel teams to evaluate opportunities and shape commercial strategies grounded in data and financial insight
  • Bring visibility to customer, channel, and product economics (trade spend ROI, customer P&ls, cost-to-serve) to inform decision-making
  • Collaborate on omni-channel frameworks that enable consistent, transparent evaluation across in-store and e-commerce businesses
  • Support investment decisions (e.g., media, trade, innovation, chillers, capacity) by clarifying trade-offs, risks, and expected returns
Enable Commercial Capabilities
  • Act as a key partner in advancing Revenue Growth Management (RGM), providing pricing analytics, promotion insights, and pack-price architecture frameworks
  • Work hand-in-hand with Commercial teams to build portfolio and mix optimization strategies, including SKU optimization and margin expansion initiatives
  • Partner with Innovation teams to support business case development, stage-gate decisions, and post-launch performance tracking
  • Co-develop tools, dashboards, and analytics that teams can use directly—creating shared ownership of insights
Build Consistent, Scalable Ways of Working
  • Align with Sales and Marketing leadership on common performance metrics and frameworks to drive consistency across teams and channels
  • Support the analysis and interpretation of key analytics (e.g., elasticity, household panel data), translating insights into actionable recommendations for Sales and Marketing.
Be a Trusted Business Partner
  • Serve as a go-to advisor for scenario modeling, trade-offs, and decision support across commercial initiatives
  • Participate actively in planning processes (S&OP, JBP, forecasting, performance reviews), ensuring financial insights are integrated early—not added after the fact
  • Proactively surface risks and opportunities, framing insights in a way that drives alignment and action
Drive Financial Performance & Planning Discipline
  • Lead commercial forecasting, annual planning, and performance tracking processes in partnership with Sales, Marketing, and Omni-channel teams
  • Drive gross margin and trade investment optimization through ongoing analysis of pricing, promotional effectiveness, customer profitability, and portfolio performance
  • Develop and maintain customer, channel, and category P&ls to support business reviews, investment decisions, and long-range planning
  • Support monthly and quarterly business reviews with actionable financial insights, scenario modeling, and performance analytics
What You Will Bring What Success Looks Like (First 12–18 Months)
  • Finance is consistently embedded in key commercial forums (e.g., pricing, promo, and customer planning), with regular participation in decision-making cadence
  • Standard customer and channel P&ls are established and used in monthly/quarterly business reviews across Sales and Marketing
  • Pricing, promotion, and trade investment decisions are supported by clear financial analysis, with defined assumptions and post-event reviews in place
  • Agreed-upon tools and decision frameworks (e.g., pricing guardrails, promo evaluation templates) are in regular use across commercial teams

You are a commercially-minded finance leader who builds trust quickly and enjoys working side-by-side with the business. You bring a strong point of view, but lead with curiosity and collaboration—using data to inform and influence.

You are at your best in environments where success depends on relationships, credibility, and shared outcomes. You simplify complexity, make insights accessible, and help teams move forward with confidence.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in Finance, Commercial Finance, or related analytical roles
  • Experience partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, or Revenue Growth Management teams
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities
  • Experience in CPG or a similarly complex, multi-channel environment preferred
Key Skills & Leadership Capabilities
  • Influence through partnership – Builds trust and alignment across cross-functional stakeholders
  • Storytelling with data – Translates complex analytics into clear, actionable insights
  • Business-first mindset – Balances financial rigor with practical, commercial decision-making
  • Change leadership – Ability to create new processes and drive lasting adoption
  • Strategic thinking – Connects financial insights to broader business goals

Collaboration – Works seamlessly across teams to deliver shared outcomes
