Job description

As the Mass Notification Technician, you are responsible for the operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of base-wide mass notification and emergency alerting systems at Al Udeid Air Base. This role ensures timely, accurate dissemination of emergency information to military, civilian, and contractor personnel in support of force protection, life safety, and mission continuity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain mass notification systems, including Giant Voice, indoor warning systems, sirens, public address systems, and digital alerting platforms (e.g., text, email, desktop alerts).
  • Conduct scheduled system tests, inspections, and preventative maintenance in accordance with base, DoD, and Air Force standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware, software, network, and power issues affecting notification systems.
  • Coordinate with Emergency Management, Security Forces, Command Post, and Communications units during real-world events and exercises.
  • Support emergency response operations by rapidly initiating alerts and announcements as directed.
  • Maintain system documentation, logs, maintenance records, and configuration data.
  • Assist with system upgrades, expansions, and integration with other communications or life-safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, safety, and operational policies.
  • Provide technical support and training to authorized users as required.
  • Participate in drills, exercises, and after-action reviews to improve system effectiveness.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical or associate degree preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in communications systems, IT, electronics, alarms, or public address systems.
  • Working knowledge of mass notification, emergency alerting, or life-safety systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-tempo, mission-critical environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
  • Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
