Are you looking to use your engineering capabilities, project management and collective skills in your next position? We could use your expertise on our team! As a Project Engineer I you will support planning, coordination, and execution of the engineering aspects of product development projects. Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of project milestones, managing schedules, and assisting with technical matters. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to grow their engineering careers by gaining hands-on experience in project management and technical coordination. Responsibilities: Product Owner & Scrum Master * Own and maintain the program DevSecOps backlog in Jira, including story creation, acceptance criteria definition, prioritization, and grooming in coordination with the Senior PE.
* Serve as Scrum Master for one or more DevSecOps delivery teams, facilitating sprint ceremonies (standups, planning, reviews, retrospectives) and removing impediments to team delivery.
* Lead and coordinate Program Increment (PI) planning efforts, including pre-PI preparation, team dependency coordination, and post-PI risk and action item tracking.
* Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into actionable user stories and backlog items, maintaining traceability from customer need through sprint delivery.
* Coordinate workload planning with the functional DSO Product Owner, balancing DSO team capacity against program commitments and customer-side requests.
DevSecOps Toolchain Support & Operations * Operate and support the program CI/CD pipeline toolchain including pipeline execution monitoring, artifact management, and build health tracking using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Artifactory.
* Support toolchain administration including user access, pipeline configuration updates, and coordination of tool upgrades with the Senior PE.
* Maintain toolchain status dashboards and operational metrics supporting DORA-aligned delivery reporting.
* Serve as a first-line interface for developer teams using the CI/CD pipeline, triaging operational issues and escalating architectural pipeline problems to the Senior PE.
COTS Procurement & Licensing Management * Own the program COTS and software licensing procurement lifecycle: requirements capture, vendor coordination, purchase request processing, delivery tracking, and renewal management.
* Maintain accurate records of all program software licenses, tool subscriptions, and COTS product configurations, coordinating with finance and contracts on compliance.
* Proactively identify upcoming license renewals and COTS lifecycle risks, and communicate requirements to program leadership with sufficient lead time for approval and action.
Customer Interface & Stakeholder Coordination * Serve as a day-to-day interface with program customers and stakeholders for backlog and delivery status questions, escalating technical or scope-change decisions to the Senior PE.
* Manage working relationships with customer-side teams on coordination and integration items within the defined scope of the PE I role.
* Prepare and present program delivery status updates and sprint review outputs to customer and program leadership under Senior PE guidance. Qualifications You Must Have: * Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a closely related field, OR documented equivalent experience demonstrating technical and program-coordination capability.
* 8+ years' experience in engineering roles.
* Knowledge of engineering principles and practice.
* Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team.
* Basic understanding of requirements management, system design, and integration.
* Demonstrated hands-on experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master in an Agile delivery environment, including backlog ownership, sprint facilitation, and PI planning participation.
* Working experience with Jira as a primary tool for backlog management, sprint tracking, and program planning.
* Experience with program procurement or COTS/licensing management, including vendor coordination and purchase lifecycle participation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Current/Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SCI Eligibility is required. Qualifications We Prefer: * Working familiarity with CI/CD toolchain platforms (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Artifactory, or equivalent).
* SAFe Agile certification (SAFe Agilist, SAFe Scrum Master) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification.
* Experience supporting or leading PI planning events.
* VBA, scripting, or basic coding experience demonstrating technical curiosity.
* Experience building or maintaining technical diagrams (Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent).
* 2-4 years relevant leadership and/or project management experience.
* Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).
* Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers.
* Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management.
* Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure.
* Experience or certification in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standard.
* Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry. Essential Functions: * Occasional travel to customer or field locations may be required.
* Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid environment.
* Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
* Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
* Hand and finger dexterity for computer use.
