ABOUT THE LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ART
Opening in September 2026, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is dedicated to illustrated storytelling.ย  Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museumโ€™s collection features works by artists including Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judith F. Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish; as well as comic art legends such as Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb; and photographers Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. The Museum also houses the Lucas Archives, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucasโ€™s filmmaking career.ย

Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with a landscape by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA, the Museum is in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on an 11-acre campus that includes new green space and a 300,000-square-foot building with galleries, two theaters, a library, restaurant, cafรฉ, retail store, and community spaces.โ€ฏย

POSITION SUMMARYย 

The Manager, E-commerce leads the digital retail strategy and execution for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, positioning the online store as both a revenue driver and an audience engagement platform. Reporting to the Retail Director and as part of the Revenue & Engagement team, this role ensures that the museumโ€™s digital storefront delivers a seamless, engaging, and high-performing experience that extends the museumโ€™s storytelling beyond its physical space.ย 

This roleย is responsible forย managing the museumโ€™s online store,ย optimizingย the digital sales funnel, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams across the Revenue & Engagement portfolio to deliver an exceptional online shopping experience. The position requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with a focus on driving revenue growth while deepening audience connection to the museumโ€™s mission.ย ย 

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy to drive revenue growth and enhance the digital customer experienceย 

  • Manageย identificationย and implementation ofย e-commerce technologyย in partnership with the Merchandiserย 

  • Collaborateย withย Curatorial andย internal stakeholdersย toย identifyย product development opportunities tied to exhibitions and collectionsย ย 

  • Partner withย Marketing team on digital marketing initiatives for the Lucas Museumโ€™s online storeย 

  • Support Retail leadership with supplier relationships with third-party e-commerce vendors and licensing partners to support long-term growthย 

  • Manageย the day-to-day operations of theย Lucas Museumโ€™sย e-commerce platform, including product listings, pricing, promotions, and inventory managementย thatย complement exhibitions,ย programsย and the Museumโ€™s collectionย 

  • Collaborateย with cross-functional teamsย and managersย across the Revenue & Engagement teamย toย ensureย an excellentย e-commerceย experienceย 

  • Liaise with Visitor Services, Retail, Marketing, Digital, Technology, and external vendors toย maintainย the functionality of the online storeย and ensureย high quality product imagery and storytelling of digital channelsย 

  • Monitor and analyzeย key performance indicators (KPIs)ย in partnership with Revenue & Engagement leadershipย such as traffic, conversion rates, sales, andย visitor experienceย 

  • Optimizeย the website forย visitorย experience, including navigation, search functionality, and mobile responsivenessย 

  • Analyzeย sales performance andย visitor behavior toย identifyย opportunities for improvementย 

  • Generate reports and insights to supportย leadership in decision-makingย 

  • Implement A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategiesย 

  • Support relationships with third-party vendors, including payment gateways,ย logisticsย and fulfillmentย partners, and e-commerce platformsย 

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as an e-commerce manager or in a similar e-commerce or digital marketing role, preferably for an arts & cultural institution or prominent consumer brand
  • Strong understanding of online sales platforms and digital marketing strategies
  • Expertise in digital marketing techniques, including SEO, SEM, and social media marketing
  • Proficient in web analytics tools and e-commerce tracking tools
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency with CRM software and MS Excel
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles and how they impact online sales
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving industry
  • Solid communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to derive actionable insights from data
  • Familiarity with e-commerce trends
  • Experience with inventory management and supply chain managementย
