Job description

Ionia County is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Assistant Finance Director, primarily supporting the financial operations of the Road Department.

Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Assistant Finance Director serves as the primary financial resource for the Ionia County Road Department and provides advanced governmental accounting support to the Finance Director. This position is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, project accounting, regulatory compliance, audit coordination, Act 51 reporting, MDOT reporting, transportation funding compliance, and other specialized governmental accounting functions associated with Road Department operations.

While routine accounting operations are primarily performed by the Road Department Accountant and payroll operations are primarily performed by the County Payroll Specialist, this position serves as the primary backup for those functions and is responsible for ensuring continuity of operations during employee absences, vacancies, staffing transitions, and other operational disruptions.

The Assistant Finance Director may assist with County financial operations, special projects, audits, budgeting, and other accounting functions as directed by the Finance Director and may act on behalf of the Finance Director when assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be experienced in Precision Road software.
  • Experience with BS&A Financial Management Software is desired.
