Job description

Each Deputy Clerk of the Franklin County Municipal Court is responsible for the

following essential qualities for success: outstanding attendance record, promptness, maintaining a positive attitude with co-workers and management, demonstrating an

ability and willingness to perform what is asked - and to offer help to others even if

not asked, to demonstrate an ability to exercise sound judgment, a strong work ethic

based on your high standards, as well as skills indicating an unquestioned commitment

to public service.  Must demonstrate loyalty to the Office, as well build trust among

your fellow Deputy Clerks.

 

An honest belief and a willingness to truthfully commit to the Mission Statement of

this Office are imperative.   

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Understands the importance of a professional demeanor and actively serves by delivering efficient public service.

2) Must have an extensive knowledge of the Municipal Court, City Hall, Post Office and the many offices of the City of Columbus

3) Picks up and delivers all Court mail and inter-office mail on time and ensures that all mail and inter-office mail is distributed to the departments in the Municipal Court and the various offices of the City of Columbus

4) When available and under the direction of the Supervisory Team, assists all Deputy Clerks who work in the Civil Division.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

 

1) Provides courteous and professional service with a high degree of accuracy-in compliance with established office procedures-in a timely manner based upon a continual assessment of the workload.

2) Objectively examines all mail coming to the Court House and leaving the Court House

3) Promptly addresses problems to appropriate Court personnel and or Supervisory Team.

4) Completes all other assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner in compliance with established office policies and procedures.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Each morning pick up mail from the four floors of the Clerks Office and the mail from the other offices within the Court and notices from the Assignment Office

2. Drive to & from main Post office, picking up & dropping off ordinary mail, Court house mail and all hearing notices

3. Drive to City Hall drop off mail and pick up mail for the Court House

4. Upon return to Municipal Court deliver all mail to proper departments

5. Back at Civil Division to perform other tasks in the office

6. Each afternoon pick up mail from the four floors of the Clerk’s Office, mail from other offices within the Court

7. Drives to the BMV to drop off documents and notices

8. Coordinates maintenance appointments and needs of the van used by the mail clerk

9. Helps stock and maintain supplies and materials for the Civil Division

10. When available, assists the Civil Division by helping under the direction of the manager or supervisor

11. The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
