Job description

Job Summary

Colson Group USA is seeking a Weld Technician to work in our welding department. This role is responsible for taking stamped components and welding them together on automated equipment and by hand. This position will be responsible for the operation of automated welding equipment and could be asked to learn basic manual welding techniques.

Essential Job Functions

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings
  • Read and interpret a production schedule
  • Operate and change over automated welding cells
  • Perform basic manual welding activities to repair defects
  • Conduct quality inspection on welded components
  • Conduct test run on new fixturing and new products
  • Troubleshoot weld defect
  • Conducting quality inspections on made components

Knowledge

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous welding experience or automated machine operation is preferred

Skills

  • Must be able to utilize a variety of inspection tools, calipers, gauges, etc.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with the Order Pickers and Maintenance group
  • Must be able to perform autonomous maintenance on the equipment you operate
  • Must be able to maintain a clean work environment and manage their own tools
  • Must be able to perform transactions in a digital environment
