Job description

Job Description:

Seeking an artist to create playful, child-friendly digital clipart images for early literacy reading passages. The artwork will support young readers by providing colorful, clear, and engaging illustrations that connect to the stories and make the passages more visually appealing.

The ideal candidate should enjoy creating art for children and be able to design images with a warm, storybook illustration style. The student will work directly with Dr. Trista Logan on each image, and should be willing to receive feedback, make revisions as needed, and follow specific guidance for each passage.

Each image will need to be provided in two formats: a full-color version and a black-and-white coloring page style version.

This position may also lead to additional work in the future. The current project is one small piece of a larger curriculum development project, so there will be opportunities for continued collaboration as additional materials are created.

Responsibilities:

  • Create digital clipart images for early literacy reading passages
  • Design artwork that is colorful, clear, child-friendly, and classroom appropriate
  • Provide each image in both full-color and black-and-white coloring page style versions
  • Work directly with the project lead to understand image needs
  • Receive feedback and make revisions as needed
  • Meet agreed-upon deadlines for completed images

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest or experience in art, digital illustration, graphic design, or education
  • Ability to create playful, storybook-style artwork for young children
  • Willingness to revise work based on feedback
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow project guidelines
  • Excitement about creating educational materials for young readers
  • Interest in possible continued work as curriculum materials are developed
