Job Summary
Work is performed for the Environmental Services Department and involves the operation of the following; backhoe, dozer, compactor or scraper in the performance of construction and maintenance of the County's landfill.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operates equipment.
  • Operates light and heavy trucks.
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment as specified by the equipment manufacturer or as directed by the supervisor that includes but not limited to daily checks on engine oil, transmission fluid, filters and coolant fluid as well as other required maintenance.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications and Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS-
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Working knowledge of various types of equipment

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS-
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
WORKING CONDITIONS - Work is mostly performed outdoors operating equipment. Subject to extreme weather conditions. Exposure to fumes from exhaust on equipment. Exposure to high noise levels.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Work in generally medium in nature involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, operating equipment, with moderate amounts of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs.
