Job description

Hampden-Sydney College has an opening for a full-time Groundskeeper position working within the Operations group. Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Grounds, the groundskeeper performs tasks directly related to the maintenance of the Colleges grounds, trails, flowerbeds, shrubbery, and trees. Also assists the College with other duties including trash and liter collection, special event and athletic game day support, and emergencies such as weather events. May be asked to participate in the on-call rotation or respond to emergency situations.

Qualifications: A High School diploma or GED and valid Virginia drivers license is required. 1 - 3 years of experience preferred. Must have or be able to attain pesticide license (registered tech) within 12 months. Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules preferred. Outdoor work environment subjected to seasonal heat, cold or adverse weather conditions. Working at heights. Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, stand, walk, and bend for many hours required.
