Job description



TITLE: Grant Writerย 


Position Purposeย 


- ย Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, to research grant programs, write funding applications, and coordinate and lead the activities of a grant/loan program.ย 




Essential Job Functions


- ย Researches grant programs and plans.


- ย Researches and writes funding applications.


- ย Coordinates and leads the activities of a grant/loan program that supports school district improvement projects other grant eligibility programs for the School District.


- ย Prioritizes project needs, coordinates and research grant preparation assignments.


- ย Writes grant applications and ensures that they are complete, clear, accurate, timely, and submitted in accordance with grant/loan requirements.


- ย Provides timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures; collaborates in defining and implementing project funding strategies.


- ย Resolve any issues or conflicts with funding agencies.


- ย Prepares reports as required by granting agencies.


- ย Manages the procurement process.


- ย Serves as liaison between the city and outside funding agencies and groups; participates in meetings and discussions in which decisions affecting School District projects are made.


- ย Serves as a resource to the Superintendent and Board of Education on state and federal funding programs; provides information, research, analysis, written reports and recommendations as needed.


- ย Coordinates and plans funding program activities, including the prioritization, planning and scheduling of activities to guide program efficiency and effectiveness.


- ย Reviews revenues and expenditures, and project status; ensures proper expenditures are made for grant projects.

- ย Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


- ย Knowledge of grant application process and writing of applications.


- ย Knowledge of various grant programs available to school districts.


- ย Knowledge of loan documents to track the disposition of funding with project managers and funding agencies.


- ย Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and processes regarding grant applications and procurement.


- ย Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.


- ย Effective written and verbal communication skills.


- ย Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in meeting deadlines.


- ย Ability to take initiative and utilize innovative techniques and ingenuity in preparing grant/loan applications.


- ย Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint).


- ย Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with various departments of the City.


- ย Ability to research grant opportunities available, and to gather, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data


- ย Ability to participate as a team player to coordinate grant projects.


- ย Ability to develop, write and implement strategic plans and ability to provide necessary documentation to support grant requirements.


- ย Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations.


- ย Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications Profileย

Certification/License:ย 


- ย Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.


Education:ย 


- ย BA Degree in English or related field from an accredited college or university. Masters Degree in related field preferred.

Experienceย 


- ย Successful related experience, much of which has been spent in grant/loan funding or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the skills knowledge and ability necessary to perform the essential functions.


- ย Experience in a school district or government grant writing preferred.
