Join our dedicated Finance team as a Levy Collections & Compliance Coordinator, a pivotal role that ensures seamless municipal accommodation tax and marketing levy collections. Your work directly supports the ongoing success of our accommodation operators and strengthens our municipal partnerships, contributing significantly to the stability and growth of the hospitality sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end MAT/Levy returns, payment collection, and reconciliation for accommodation operators across Ontario and Nova Scotia.
  • Administer and maintain the Levy Collection Platform, ensuring data integrity and continuous improvement.
  • Design and implement workflow processes to enhance data entry, reporting, and analysis.
  • Promote best practices among platform administrators for consistent data entry and standardization.
  • Develop internal training materials and facilitate sessions for platform users.
  • Collaborate with support teams to troubleshoot performance issues and ensure data accuracy.
  • Evaluate platform capabilities and encourage optimal usage across various municipal jurisdictions.
  • Record and process interest charges and penalties.
  • Monitor aging accounts and conduct follow-ups on overdue payments.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable financial records and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for accommodation operators regarding MAT/Levy inquiries.
  • Clearly explain return processes, payment deadlines, and compliance requirements.
  • Build strong relationships through proactive communication and effective issue resolution.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in all interactions, including during disputes.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MAT/Levy rules and internal protocols to explain changes and deadlines.
  • Prepare regular internal reports on collection activity and outstanding accounts.
  • Support external audits and provide necessary financial documentation.
  • Stay informed on MAT/Levy regulations to ensure internal processes align with municipal requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, collections, or financial administration.
  • Familiarity with municipal tax structures or public finance practices is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting/CRM platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Salesforce).
  • Demonstrated experience in platform administration and supporting data analytics.
