Mechanical Assembler
Classification: Non-exempt (Hourly)
Standard hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Pay range: $23.00 - $34.00/hourly
Position Summary: Bourn & Koch is a leading manufacturer and remanufacturer of precision CNC machine tools serving customers across North America. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler who takes pride in building high-quality, precision equipment.
In this role, you will assemble, align, inspect, and test mechanical components and machine systems using engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys hands-on work, and is committed to producing reliable, high-quality products in a collaborative manufacturing environment. This is not an assembly line job.
Essential Functions:
· Assemble new and remanufactured CNC machine tools and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
· Read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
· Verify proper fit, alignment, and operation of assembled components.
· Perform functional testing and document inspection results.
· Identify, document, and report quality issues or nonconforming materials.
· Safely operate hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and lifting devices.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety and quality procedures.
· Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing personnel to resolve assembly issues.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-training efforts.
Technical Qualifications:
· Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
· Ability to use precision measuring instruments
· Experience assembling mechanical equipment
· Knowledge of bearings, gears, shafts, hydraulic systems, and lubrication
· Ability to safely use overhead cranes and forklifts
Required Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED
· Mechanical aptitude
· Ability to read mechanical drawings
· Experience using hand and power tools
· Basic understanding of precision measuring equipment
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Strong attention to detail
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
· Trade school or technical degree
· CNC machine tool assembly experience
· GD&T interpretation
· ERP experience
· Hydraulic or pneumatic assembly experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in written electronic communication
- GD&T interpretation
- Troubleshooting skills
Physical Requirements:
· Frequently stand and walk throughout the workday.
· Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb on or around large equipment.
· Frequently use hands for gripping, reaching, and fine manipulation.
· Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
· Occasionally lift more than 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment.
· Ability to distinguish colors and read measuring devices.
· Ability to work around moving machinery.
Work Environment: Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, overhead cranes, industrial noise, oils, coolants, and varying temperatures. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
