Job description

Job Title: Cognos Developer - Healthcare Analytics (Framework Manager)
Location
Hybrid / Remote USA (as per client guidelines)
Cognos Development & Reporting
• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain IBM Cognos reports (Report Studio / Cognos Analytics) including:
o Pixel-perfect reports
o Dashboards and visualizations
o Drill-through and parameterized reports
• Create and optimize SQL queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and reporting performance.
• Develop scheduled and on-demand reports and manage report bursting, distribution, and security.
• Perform unit testing, defect fixing, and ongoing maintenance of existing Cognos reports.
Framework Manager & Data Modeling
• Design, develop, and maintain Framework Manager (FM) models including:
o Importing and organizing metadata
o Creating namespaces, query subjects, and relationships
o Implementing determinants, hierarchies, and calculations
• Build and manage Dimensional and Relational models aligned with business requirements.
• Apply best practices for model performance, reusability, and scalability.
• Handle model versioning, deployment, and promotion across environments.
Data Analysis & Business Collaboration
• Work closely with business users and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate reporting requirements into technical solutions.
• Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Provide recommendations on reporting approaches, data structures, and performance optimization.
• Support UAT activities and incorporate user feedback into final solutions.
Performance, Security & Governance
• Optimize Cognos reports and models for performance and scalability.
• Implement row-level and object-level security within Cognos and Framework Manager.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards (especially in regulated environments such as healthcare or finance).
• Monitor and troubleshoot report failures, performance issues, and data discrepancies.
Support & Documentation
• Provide production support and resolve Cognos-related incidents and service requests.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for reports, models, and processes.
• Assist with Cognos upgrades, migrations, and enhancements.
• Mentor junior developers and support knowledge transfer activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics / Cognos BI
• Strong expertise in Framework Manager (modeling, relationships, determinants, calculations)
• Advanced SQL skills with experience in complex joins, subqueries, and performance tuning
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, or Teradata
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts (facts, dimensions, star/snowflake schemas)
• Experience with report performance tuning and troubleshooting
