A Brief Overview
The Data and Analytics (DnA) team is essential part of Center for Healthcare Quality & Analytics (CHQA) team within Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). DnA team provides data & analytics services across the enterprise. The services include engineering, analytics, applied data science, data literacy, and data trust. EPIC's Cogito (Data and analytics) suite of offerings are part of our core strategy to serve multitude of consumers ranging from clinical decision support, operational and research areas.
This role is responsible for implementation, administration, maintenance, support and development aspects of all of the Cogito infrastructure such as Clarity, Caboodle, Slicer Dicer, Business Objects, Cognitive computing and other relevant tools. This role will function as a subject matter expert on these tools, build solutions and offer insights to solve many aspects of healthcare challenges and opportunities to improve care quality/outcomes.
An ideal candidate will have very good understanding of EPIC Cogito suite and associated technologies/tools such as Operating Systems, Databases, SQL, ETL/ELT tools, Shell Scripting, BI/Reporting, Visualization and Machine learning techniques.
What you will do

  • Implement, maintain and support Epic Data Analytics suite of products - Clarity, Caboodle, Slicer Dicer, Business Objects, Cognitive Computing and other related tools.
  • Participate in architecture, design and integration aspects of the relevant tools and associated development and enhancement lifecycle.
  • Establish automated solutions to monitor and act to ensure optimal user experience and performance of the various workloads.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams, downstream consumers and the vendor to ensure smooth upgrades and patch deployments.
  • Configure and deploy Caboodle/Slicer Dicer data models.
  • Perform enhancements to Caboodle data models to meet Clinical/business needs.
  • Develop and enhance SSIS packages/ETL jobs.
  • Identify opportunities to automate various mundane functions and ensure that health of the automated functions are working as per the fitness needs.
  • Maintain all relevant functional and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts, data analysts, and data scientists to understand/identify the opportunities to develop well-defined, integrated, re-usable data sets which power analytics.
  • Utilize software development practices such as version control via Git, CI/CD, and release management
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, DevOps engineers and architects on improvement opportunities for DataOps tools and frameworks.
  • Implement data quality frameworks and data quality checks.
  • Work independently and effectively manage ones time across multiple priorities and projects.
  • Make recommendations about platform adoption, including technology integrations, application servers, libraries, and frameworks.
  • Participate in a shared production on-call support model.
  • Be a critical part of a scrum team in an agile environment, ensuring the team successfully meets its deliverables each sprint.

This team works approximately 80% remotely, 20% on site in our Philadelphia offices on an as-needed basis.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least five (5) years of experience working in Data and analytics landscape Required
  • At least six (6) years of experience working in Data and analytics landscape Preferred
  • At least three (3) years of experience working Epic Cogito/Data Analytics suite Preferred
  • Epic Caboodle experience Preferred

Certification Qualifications

  • Epic Cogito Certification preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong SQL, Data Modeling and Data Warehousing fundamentals.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL server
  • Experience with data integration tools: SSIS, DBT, Informatica etc.
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence Tools (Business Objects) or Visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI etc.,
  • Good hands-on experience with Windows, Linux (RHEL/Debian) operating system
  • Experience utilizing Agile methodology for development
