Overview

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating any or all required construction equipment in the installation, removal or maintenance of underground systems on commercial projects. Installing and repairing all phases of plumbing systems; potable water, sanitary water and vent, natural gas and storm drainage systems in accordance with local and state plumbing and building codes.

Responsibilities
  • Practices on the job safety.
  • Maintains safe and cleans working environment by complying with all the company's and site specific safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Operates equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local building and plumbing codes by enforcing adherence to requirements.
  • Installs all plumbing systems and supports by using approved job drawings and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Installs lavatories, toilets, urinals, and cafeteria plumbing fixtures.
  • Installs drinking fountains.
  • Installs storm drainage systems.
  • Installs sanitary sewer systems and potable water systems.
  • Identifies obstructions to be avoided by inspecting structure.
  • Keeps plumbing equipment and tools operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.
  • Be able to test all plumbing systems per job specifications.
  • Operates various types of construction equipment including but not limited to: track hoe, back hoe, skid steer, forklift/ lull.
  • Locates utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
  • Installs underground sewer, water, & storm drain in trench.
  • Excavating and/or backfilling utility trenches.
  • Services and makes minor repairs to equipment.
Qualifications
  • Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

    • 2 years minimum of equipment operator.
    • OSHA 10
    • Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
    • Knowledge of testing plumbing systems to identifying leaks.
    • Knowledge of basic safety, ADA Requirements, and state and local building / plumbing codes.
    • Ability to install PVC, ABC, no-hub, service weight, copper sweat, copper pro press systems PEX pipe and Victaulic piping systems.
    • Knowledge of city and national plumbing codes.
    • Ability to read and comprehend design drawings.
    • Ability to operate some types of plumbing equipment.
    • Ability to use special tools and equipment.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
    • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

    Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

    • Plumber's License.
    • 1 year as commercial plumber.
    • 2 years as residential plumber.

    Physical/Work Environment Requirements

    • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
    • Climbing stairs.
    • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
    • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
    • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
    • Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind.
    • Noisy environment.
    • Light to heavy work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects from 20-100 pounds.

    Travel Requirements

    • 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
