PBX Switchboard Operator
PRN First Shift
BHCOR-PBX (Switchboard) I Corbin, KY
The BPX unit serves as the hospital's central communications hub, responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing calls, paging systems, and emergency communication services 24 hours a day.
Primarily responsible for answering and routing all incoming calls. Maintains current knowledge of all Code procedures, including Code 1, disaster, fire, bomb, and electrical alerts. Responds promptly and appropriately to all alarms and is responsible for overhead paging. Requires the ability to consistently manage multiple tasks simultaneously while operating multiple computer screens. Functions as the information desk for the organization. Consistently monitors and adheres to safety responsibilities and initiatives. Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Baptist Health.
Description:
  • Answer and route incoming calls professionally and provide accurate information to callers.
  • Receive, document, and route messages to providers and staff, ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Respond to and coordinate emergency codes, alarms, and overhead paging activities.
  • Operate switchboard, communication, and information systems while managing multiple tasks.
  • Process and route work orders and service requests accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
  • Support Baptist Health's mission, values, culture of safety, and customer service standards.
  • Complete required training and adhere to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • No prior experience required; one year of related switchboard, customer service, or communications experience preferred.
  • PBX/switchboard operation training preferred.
  • Typing and general office/computer training preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • No licensure, certification, registration, or life support certification required.
