Job description

NHI Commercial is seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Electrician to join our growing team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in multi-family housing and commercial environments while ensuring all work meets code requirements and safety standards.

Journeyman Electrician Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems in multi-family housing and commercial buildings
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Install conduit (EMT, PVC, rigid), wiring, panels, and fixtures
  • Perform electrical upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other trades
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Train and mentor apprentices when needed
  • Accurately document work performed and materials used

Journeyman Electrician Requirements:

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license
  • 3+ years of commercial electrical experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at heights
  • Ability to work in various environments (indoor/outdoor, job sites)

Most of the projects that are performed by NHI Commercial are directly related to multi-family housing. This means that in many cases, projects are performed within occupied units and communities, and it is the expectation of NHI Commercial that all employees act with a high level of professionalism. 

Pay Range: Up to $50/hr. (Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications)

Many jobs are based on government contracts and fall under prevailing wage.  If prevailing wage is higher, the employee will get the higher of the two.
