Job description

Our client is seeking an Cloud Network Engineer II. The Cloud Network Engineer II is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting cloud and hybrid network infrastructure, with a focus on secure, scalable, and highly available connectivity across AWS, Azure, OCI, and on-premises environments. This role requires strong hands-on experience with cloud networking, Cisco and Meraki infrastructure, and multi-cloud connectivity solutions, and is responsible for improving network performance, reliability, and security across hybrid environments while supporting cloud adoption efforts. The engineer works closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to deliver stable, efficient, and well-integrated platforms.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties:

  • Design and support secure, scalable network solutions across AWS, Azure, OCI, and on-premises environments.
  • Build and manage hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity, including VPN, SD-WAN, direct connect services, and Megaport.
  • Manage on-premises network infrastructure, including Cisco and Meraki platforms.
  • Design and maintain routing, switching, and segmentation (BGP, OSPF, VLANs).
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues across cloud, on-premises, and provider networks.
  • Work with telecom providers to manage DIA, broadband, and redundant connectivity.
  • Manage DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (IPAM) in hybrid environments.
  • Apply network security best practices, including firewall policies, segmentation, encryption, and PKI management.
  • Support vulnerability management and network-related security risks.
  • Support cloud migration efforts and ongoing platform improvements.
  • Document network designs and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering or architecture, with hands-on proficiency in AWS, Azure, and OCI.
  • AWS SysOps Administrator certification or equivalent.
  • 5 years of progressive server administration experience (Windows, Linux).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS), and observability tools (Datadog, PagerDuty).
  • Hands-on experience with on-premises networking using Cisco (Catalyst, Nexus, IOS/XE) and Meraki (MX, MS, MR).
  • Experience with routing and connectivity (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, SD-WAN).
  • Experience with multi-cloud connectivity, including Megaport and cloud direct connect services (AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, OCI FastConnect).
  • Experience with network monitoring and telemetry tools (NetFlow, SNMP, packet capture, flow analytics).
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (IPAM) in hybrid environments.
  • Experience managing certificates and PKI, including lifecycle automation and secure key management.
  • Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery (DR), business continuity (BC), and maintaining CMDB systems.
  • Familiarity with WAFs, ALB/ELB, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards (SOC2, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Effective use of generative AI tools for automation, scripting, and documentation.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; comfortable working in agile environments.

Salary/Rate: $55-$75/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week. Upon conversion Salary would be $125,000 - $135,000 (depending on experience level), plus benefits.
