Reports to: CNO/Asst. CNO/Sr. Dir Of Nursing Services Exempt Status: ☒ Yes ☐ No

Position Purpose:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develops and implements departmental goals aligned with KRMC’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Clinical Practice & Quality: Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Operational Management: Assumes 24-hour responsibility for staffing, patient care, and service operations.
  • Professional Development: Coaches, mentors, and develops staff, fostering a supportive and high-performing team.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Facilitates effective communication and collaboration among physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in critical care and 3 year in a leadership role.

Certification:

  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross with 3 months of hire date; if permitted through licensed scope of practice.
  • Basic EKG competency within 3 months of hire date; if licensed clinician

License: Current and valid Arizona RN license; if RN

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Builds collaborative relationships, communicates effectively with all stakeholders, and resolves conflicts constructively.
  • Understands clinical practice, healthcare delivery systems, and regulatory requirements to guide department operations.

Pediatrics:

  • PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 3 months of hire date

Emergency Department:

  • PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 3 months of hire date; if permitted through licensed scope of practice
  • TNCC within 1 year of hire date; if RN
  • Emergency Severity Index training required within 6 months of training; if RN

Surgical Services:

  • PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days of hire date

Women’s Services:

  • NRP certification required within 6 months of hire date
