Job description

Job Title

Responsible for assignment of appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis, ICD-10-PCS/CPT procedure codes, and abstracting statistical and reimbursement data for inpatient and outpatient encounters.

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Associates or Bachelors of HIM (preferred)
  • Keyboarding/computer skills
  • Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator (CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Process, and Pharmacology.

Previous Experience:

  • 1. Computers and other office equipment
  • 2. Combination of at least 5 years of Acute Inpatient and/or Outpatient coding experience or 2 years management experience with coding/auditing experience required
