Job description

1. Controls Engineer

Job Title: Controls Engineer Company: Bright IA – Intelligent Automation Location: Fort Worth, TX (on-site + regional client sites) Type: Full-time

About Us Bright IA is a controls and robotics system integrator and machine builder serving manufacturers across the Dallas–Fort Worth area and the Southwest U.S. We're a FANUC Authorized System Integrator, KUKA Partner, Rockwell expert integrator, and CODESYS System Partner. We deliver engineered, turnkey automation — built on honesty, precision, and high performance.

The Role We're looking for a hands-on Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission industrial control systems from concept through on-site startup. You'll own the controls side of projects across robotics work cells, motion systems, and full production lines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications (primarily Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Studio 5000 & FactoryTalk)
  • Design UL 508A-style control panels and produce electrical schematics
  • Configure motion control, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT)
  • Integrate vision systems, safety circuits, and FANUC robotic cells into the broader control architecture
  • Commission systems on-site, troubleshoot, and support customer startup
  • Produce clean documentation and follow functional safety best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on industrial controls engineering experience
  • Strong Allen-Bradley / Rockwell programming (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk) — required
  • Working experience integrating FANUC robots — required
  • Solid grasp of ladder logic and structured text (IEC 61131-3)
  • Comfortable on the plant floor and traveling to client sites
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (required for ITAR-controlled and government-related work)

Preferred

  • CODESYS, KUKA, or ABB experience
  • Vision systems (Keyence, Cognex), metrology, or scanning
  • Functional safety (FSoE / DCS), SCADA/MES (Ignition), or panel build background

What We Offer Real, cutting-edge projects (not maintenance babysitting), a tight expert team, and a professional-but-friendly culture where pranks are accepted and quality is non-negotiable.
