Position Overview: The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the labor, equipment, and material costs for roofing opportunities. This role involves verifying sales information, negotiating supplier pricing, and maintaining current market data to generate precise estimates and project documents. A key aspect of the position is conducting risk analysis on complex projects and collaborating on operational improvements while ensuring compliance with company processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare detailed estimates across all commercial roofing systems, including labor, materials, equipment, and pricing
  • Perform value engineering to recommend cost-effective solutions that meet client and project requirements
  • Review drawings, specifications, and warranty requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Support sales by attending client meetings to assess roof conditions and recommend solutions
  • Maintain current material pricing and negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers as needed
  • Compile submittals, manufacturer documentation, and complex project-related paperwork
  • Participate in pre-bid, post-bid, and handoff meetings with sales and project management teams
  • Conduct risk analysis, generate job cost reports, and ensure compliance with contracts and company processes


    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Valid drivers license in accordance with state laws and company driving policies
    • OSHA 10 certification and strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards
    • Solid understanding of commercial roofing systems, codes, and industry standards
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and technical specifications
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, The EDGE, and Pipedrive
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    • Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Consistently model company values including integrity, accountability, respect, and excellenc

    Education and Experience:

    • 5 years of experience in construction estimating preferred
    • 5 years of experience in roofing (prefer experience in code enforcement and building system inspections)
    • Continuing industry education as relevant to estimating job duties (even after hire)


    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    • Pass initial drug test and participate in random drug test program
    • Primarily Indoor work environment
    • Ability to work at high elevations
    • Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, crouching
    • Overtime and weekend work
