Payrate: $45.00 - $55.00
We are seeking an experienced Property Rehabilitation Code Enforcement Building Inspector to support Building and Safety operations by inspecting residential and commercial properties for compliance with municipal codes, rehabilitation standards, and safety regulations. This role focuses on identifying code violations, ensuring corrective actions are completed, and supporting property rehabilitation efforts to maintain safe and habitable structures within the community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field inspections of residential and commercial properties to verify compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and property rehabilitation requirements.
  • Identify code violations related to structural integrity, safety hazards, occupancy standards, and property maintenance.
  • Document inspection findings clearly and accurately through reports, photographs, and case documentation.
  • Issue notices of violation and provide guidance to property owners regarding corrective actions required to achieve compliance.
  • Perform follow-up inspections to verify that violations have been corrected within required timelines.
  • Work closely with Building and Safety staff, code enforcement teams, and other departments to support rehabilitation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, enforcement actions, and case status within the department's tracking systems.
  • Provide professional communication and support to property owners, contractors, and community members regarding code requirements and rehabilitation standards.
  • Ensure all inspections are conducted in accordance with applicable municipal, state, and safety regulations.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Active ICC certifications in Residential Building Inspector
  • Strong working knowledge of California Building Standards Codes
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and technical calculations
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License
  • All candidates must also be able to pass a Live Scan background check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with municipal building departments or property rehabilitation programs.
  • Familiarity with code enforcement case management systems and inspection reporting tools.
