Job description

Job Title: Coating Technician
Department: Coating
Reports to: Production Unit Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt
Location: Varies
Travel: None
Job Summary: The Coating Technician will ensure tools are free of dirt, oil, or any debris that could have an affect on the coating process. Ensures all tools coated meet the conformance standards called out in the customer specifications for coating. Responsible for machine set up and managing inventory levels of coating materials as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Check all job packets to ensure correct coating is applied to tools.

  • Clean tools using the established process with the V80 cleaning system.

  • Make sure the carousel is loaded with proper sized tools and the proper length of cut is showing out of the holder.

  • Prepare coating (pi 80) for coating set the parameters for coating proper Micronson micro tools.

  • Tube and label tools for shipping.

  • Must maintain the cleanliness and organization of the cleaning and coating area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.

  • Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of tool and cutter grinding is ideal but not required.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and limited knowledge of Pivot Panel Software and Navision are a plus but not required.

  • Excellent attention to detail is required.

  • Strong organizational skills are required.

  • Strong math skills required to perform day to day operations such as fraction to decimal conversions and geometry.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the supervisor and co-workers.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lightwork that includes moving objects up to 40 pounds at a time.

  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend, or kneel when required.
