Program Manager, SAT Prep/Academics (Yonkers)

YPIE is working to change that. Across Yonkers, Jersey City, and Nashville, YPIE partners with public schools and local organizations to provide students with a comprehensive, 9th grade-to-career continuum of support. Through deep, high-touch relationships, real-world skill development, strong community and corporate partnerships, and a culture of high expectations paired with meaningful support, YPIE helps students prepare for college, persist through graduation, and launch into careers that lead to long-term opportunity. Today, YPIE serves more than 2,500 students across these three cities, building on a model with proven results in expanding access to higher education and economic mobility.

As YPIE continues to strengthen and expand college readiness support, investing in high-quality SAT preparation represents a critical next step in deepening student impact. The SAT Prep program builds on YPIEs existing academic and advising work by providing targeted, data-driven instruction that helps students translate their academic potential into competitive college entrance exam scores. Additionally, the Program Manager will help to build a Student Success Coach (peer tutoring/mentorship) program to further expand YPIEs services available for students in need of academic support. The Program Manager will play a key role in elevating YPIEs college readiness outcomes and expanding access to postsecondary opportunities.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Program Manager, Academic Support expands YPIE's capacity to deliver high-quality academic support through both direct instruction and the leadership of a near-peer coaching program. The Program Manager provides SAT preparation and targeted math support for high school students while recruiting, training, supervising, and developing a cohort of Student Success Coaches who provide individualized tutoring, mentoring, and academic support. Through strong relationship-building, effective program management, and data-informed decision making, this role ensures high-quality student support while developing the next generation of education professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES & RESULTS

SAT Prep Instruction

• Lead the development and delivery of YPIEs SAT Prep program; plan and facilitate engaging, data-driven SAT instruction aligned to the College Board SAT, focusing on core content and test-taking strategies.

• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality SAT preparation instruction aligned to College Board standards, including reading, writing and language, and math content.

• Teach effective test-taking strategies, pacing techniques, and problem-solving approaches to help students maximize performance under timed conditions.

• Administer and analyze diagnostic assessments and formative checks to identify skill gaps and inform instruction.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying skill levels, learning styles, and academic backgrounds.

• Provide individualized and small-group academic support during class and during additional office hours (at the YPIE College Zone and in schools) to reinforce key concepts and address targeted needs.

• Support students in setting score goals, monitoring progress, and building confidence.

Student Success Coach Program Management

• Recruit and train 25 high school seniors to serve as Student Success Coaches (peer tutors/mentors)

• Recruit students in need of academic support and match them with 12th grade coaches

• Review tutoring notes to monitor participation and hold monthly individual check-ins with peer tutors/mentors to provide support, feedback, and additional training

• Monitor progress of students receiving tutoring in order to ensure their academic success and guide additional training for coaches

Student & Family Engagement

• Develop strong professional relationships with students in order to provide tutoring and foster self-advocacy so students identify and seek support.

• Help connect students to critical YPIE and external resources as needed and hold students accountable to academic and testing milestones.

• Maintain active, collaborative relationships with key family figures in students lives to reinforce goals, address academic challenges, and communicate clearly and consistently about SAT timelines, expectations, and student progress.

• Collaborate with volunteers to assist in providing services to YPIE students.

Program Administration

• Manage student records and leverage YPIE data systems to monitor progress, identify challenges, and inform instructional decisions.

• Manage SAT program logistics, including schedules, assessments, materials, and testing timelines.

• Manage Student Success Coach program logistics, including schedules, monitoring case notes, and student progress.

• Communicate proactively with internal staff and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of all activities related with the SAT prep and Student Success Coach programs.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for consideration, applicants should have:

• Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree

  • 2+ years of teaching/facilitating student learning (non-traditional classroom experience welcome)

  • Prior experience tutoring or teaching SAT, ACT, or high school-level Math

• Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong writing and public speaking skills

  • Proven organizational and program tracking skills

  • An outcomes-focused orientation

• Personal Attributes

  • Ability to navigate partnerships with diverse stakeholders

  • Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours based on program needs

  • A car and willingness to travel to program site(s)

The most competitive applicants will possess:

• Demonstrated success improving student SAT/ACT/math scores

• Teaching certification or certificate of eligibility

• Ability to see the big picture and sweat the small stuff at the same time

• Flexibility and adaptability; able to roll with the punches

• Spanish, Arabic, or other bilingual fluency a plus

JOB DETAILS

• Location: In-person across multiple program sites in Yonkers, NY

• Hours: Full-time

• Calendar: 10-month (summers off)

• Start Date: August 18

• Salary range: $60,000 to $70,000
