Job description

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! The Rite of Passage Team is hiring a Youth Care Worker at The Oaks Academy in Brownwood, Texas 

Join us as we celebrate the opening of our new, all girls program.  As we welcome our female youth population, we are looking for strong role models to provide services and mentorship. 

The Oaks is a secure post-adjudication facility located in Brownwood, Texas that provides comprehensive services to young MAn & woman (13-17), using a trauma-informed, strength-based, gender responsive model. Through rigorous education, positive skill development, and individualized therapeutic interventions and treatment, we empower youth to reach their full potential. The facility features group, individual, and family therapy, on-site schooling, individual dorm rooms, and extracurricular opportunities for the young men. Pay: starting at $17/hour+ depending on relevant education and experience

What you will do: Youth Care Workers provide safety and around-the-clock in person supervision of youth at a secure residential facility. In this role, you will provide for the physical, personal and health needs of each youth through individual counseling and skill development. Youth Care Workers provide an atmosphere that is supportive of the youth’s needs; monitor and document behaviors and activities; and participate and assist with educational, social, athletic and recreational activities. Youth Care Workers collaborate with other professional staff to establish and meet the goals of each youth's treatment plan. 

To be considered you should: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent - Be at least 21 years of age - Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test - Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry. 

Schedule: Rotating schedule – one long week Monday, Tuesday, Half of Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; one short week Half of Wednesday and Thursday. Shifts:12hrs - 7a-7p or 7p-7a.
