What is a coach cleaner?

A coach cleaner is a person that is responsible for cleaning the interior of a train car or coach. In this career, your job duties include thoroughly sweeping floors in the cars, removing all rubbish from trash receptacles, running the vacuum throughout the coach, and ensuring that the car is kept tidy at all times. The qualifications needed for a career as a coach cleaner include a high school diploma or GED certificate and a thorough understanding of the cleaning guidelines of your employer. You also need a strong work ethic, cleaning experience, and technical skills involving cleaning equipment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a coach cleaner?

To thrive as a Coach Cleaner, you need attention to detail, physical stamina, and a basic understanding of cleaning protocols, often supported by on-the-job training or experience in cleaning roles. Familiarity with cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety procedures is typically required, and some employers may require certifications in safe chemical handling. Reliability, teamwork, and good time management are important soft skills for excelling in this position. These skills ensure that transportation coaches are cleaned efficiently, safely, and to high standards, contributing to passenger comfort and operational reliability.

To manage these challenges, it's important to use proper protective equipment, follow established cleaning protocols, and communicate with team members for coordinated efforts. Many employers provide on-the-job training and support, helping new hires quickly adapt to the dynamic and sometimes fast-paced environment of the role.

Nightime Cleaning Manager- Part-Time (Bilingual Spanish/English)

Steristat Cleaning Solutions

Worthington, OH • On-site

$25/hr

Part-time

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

Steristat Cleaning Solutions is looking for a bilingual Cleaning Manager to run our evening operation in Columbus. You'll be the person our night-shift crews count on — building the schedule, checking quality at our sites, coaching cleaners in the moment, and stepping onto the floor yourself whenever a shift needs an extra pair of hands.

About Steristat Solutions

Steristat Solutions provides commercial cleaning and facility services to businesses across the Columbus, OH area. Our clients count on us to show up every night and leave their spaces spotless — which means our crews need strong, present leadership to keep quality consistent and morale high, shift after shift.

About the Role

This is a part-time, 2nd shift role, typically running 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with days that can vary based on site coverage needs. Success looks like having a reliable scheduling process, a track record of catching quality issues before clients do, and a crew that trusts you for direct, fair feedback — in both English and Spanish.

What You'll Do

●      Build and maintain the nightly cleaning schedule across assigned sites

●      Conduct quality control walkthroughs at cleaning sites and document what you find

●      Give cleaners direct, constructive feedback on-site, and report site issues and trends to management

●      Float between sites to cover shifts yourself when a site is short-staffed or a gap comes up

●      Support hiring for new cleaning staff, including interviews and onboarding

●      Communicate fluently with crew members and site contacts in both English and Spanish

What We're Looking For

Required:

●      Experience in a cleaning or janitorial supervisory/management role

●      Fluent in both Spanish and English

●      Available evenings, typically 5:00 PM–10:00 PM, with a flexible schedule week to week

●      Reliable transportation to travel between sites

●      Strong communication and organizational skills, and comfort giving direct feedback

Preferred:

●      Experience hiring, training, or onboarding cleaning staff

●      Familiarity with commercial janitorial quality standards

Compensation

$25 per hour, part-time.
